About Your Student's Field Trip

With the Nature Collective, your child learned how to help the environment in your community.

They also learned about the relationship between humans, wildlife, and the environment – locally and globally. As your child understands how to solve problems like a scientist – and iterate like a designer – they gain valuable skills that enhance their education and, in turn, help students in their future careers.

Ask your student what they discovered on their field trip – and what was their favorite part!

With GOIN’, Families + Nature Unite

A special Nature Collective program – Get Outside Into Nature (GOIN’) – helps to bring families into nature. When Escondido partner school children participate in our field trips, we present their families with opportunities to visit Escondido Creek regions on the weekend. This way, they can keep exploring together, plus take action to protect diverse habitats here – and everywhere. For instance, several Pioneer Elementary students and their families went on a Saturday adventure, visiting Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. Standing at the summit of the Way Up Trail, the group gazed at the lands and landmarks below. Together, they journaled. The students and their siblings analyzed creek life for evidence of healthy waters. “I got to spend the day with my dad,” said one student reflecting on the best part of his outdoor family adventure.

“I strongly believe that nature makes us happy, and if everyone spent more time in nature, we would all be happier. I love watching how excited and enthusiastic the students are when they are outside with their families. Their curiosity blossoms and their relationships with the environment begin to change.”
