Becoming a Volunteer Leader

Volunteer leaders commit to 40 hours a year, and each one undergoes a comprehensive 6-week training. Details (including meet-up locations for each of the trainings) will be shared with registered applicants.

Please note that we have a limited number of positions available.

We look for committed volunteers to:

  • Inspire students to connect with nature.
  • Restore habitats for endangered animals.
  • Maintain trails for access to open space.
  • Serve as ambassadors at community events.

Volunteer leaders are required to:

  • Be 18+ years of age.
  • Complete the 6-week training.
  • Have access to email for communications.

How It Works

After an application is accepted, the volunteer-in-training attends comprehensive sessions to prepare them for the work ahead. All volunteer leaders must complete the training sessions.

  • Training #1 Volunteer Orientation
  • Training #2 Birding
  • Training #3 Lagoon Discovery
  • Training #4 Plants of the Reserve
    • Following the initial 4-part training, our Volunteer Engagement Team will place you in the program(s) that best match your skills, interests, and availability. You’re required to attend one or both of the specialized trainings (#5 or #6).

  • Training #6 Habitat Restoration Training

Benefits of Your Investment

When you become a volunteer leader, you enrich yourself – and set yourself up to teach + inspire others! Volunteer leader training costs $100. Graduates of the program receive:

  • Minimum of 15 hours comprehensive training from conservation leaders.
  • Exclusive uniform (Nature Collective logo shirt + hat).
  • Certificate of completion.
  • Invitation to the graduation + recognition event where you will join other volunteer leaders to celebrate philanthropy and nature.
  • 1-year membership with the Nature Collective.
