San Diego, through Nature Collective, is one of six national regions to receive outdoor science learning funding by BEETLES

BEETLES is: Better Environmental Education, Teaching, Learning and Expertise Sharing

Our BEETLES partner just announced their 2020 national grants to enhance outdoor field learning. With a $15,000 award, Nature Collective is spearheading the San Diego region to inspire passionate science and environmental educators who are devoted to improving the quality of outdoor science education.

Here in San Diego, we will focus on North County and South Bay.

We’ll begin later this year hosting a retreat at Cuyamaca Outdoor School for environmental educators and school administrators in Escondido and National City.

Throughout the year, we will maintain this network of educators through video conferencing, an Equity and Inclusivity workshop, and strategizing on techniques to expand our network.

Our partner organizations:
San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Cuyamaca Outdoor School, Escondido Creek Conservancy, Coastal Root Farm, San Dieguito River Park Conservancy, Daley Ranch, Ocean Connectors, Living Coast Discovery Center, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (South Coast Region), Olivewood Gardens, San Diego Audubon Society, Escondido Union School District, National City School District, San Diego County Office of Education.

For more information on the BEETLES grant, and other awarded regions, visit the announcement.

In this pilot program, we look forward to establishing a more connected community of educators to serve as a model for school districts within San Diego, and beyond.
